Job Summary:

The Senior Unix Systems Administrator will be skilled in the IBM Power Series and will be instrumental in participating on and leading a team of UNIX administrators that administer, maintain and support all UNIX Server hardware and Operating Systems for Comdata.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team that is responsible for the support and maintenance of all UNIX Server hardware and Operating Systems (predominately AIX but including Solaris and various LINUX distributions)
  • Provide strategic and architectural planning and vision for UNIX systems on IBM Z and P series and on SUN and Intel-compatible systems
  • Monitor the environment for performance and stability that meets Service Level Objectives
  • Maintain system patching levels, ensure current system backups, analyze for performance tuning
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on incidents on UNIX systems, hardware and OS/software
  • Produce reports essential for proper management of the UNIX environment
  • Maintain the environment to satisfy security requirements set by business drivers and Information Security department
  • Objectively handle escalation of reported incidents related to all facets of the UNIX environment
  • Work with peers across multiple business units
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation, and other duties assigned by Comdata
  • Other duties as needed
Qualifications:
Required
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred, technical education or equivalent experience in the computer field required AND 7+ years experience in the client server area
  • 10+ years of experience with design, architecture, support and recovery of UNIX systems environments, preferably IBM POWER Series
  • 10+ years experience with AIX, Solaris, LINUX or other UNIX variants
  • 5+ years of experience with server virtualization using IBM technologies
  • Supervisory experience leading UNIX administrators
  • Strong working knowledge of networking architectures and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP
  • Strong UNIX shell scripting experience and an ability to support existing scripted processes
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of centralized server management framework
  • Experience in SAN-based server environments
  • A self-starter with good interpersonal skills who can work equally well with management, peers, or end-users
Desired

* Oracle or DB2 database systems experience

* LINUX on Z-Series experience

* Ability to lead a team on projects and be a liaison with Project Managers
