Job Title: Fire Protection Designer

About Us: Shambaugh & Son L.P., a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is a construction/engineering firm. We specialize in the Design-Build method of construction resulting in fast-track delivery of the project improvements to our clients as well as traditional plan and spec projects. We are one of the largest specialty contractors in the U.S. and the only one with all eight M.E.P. (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation, Refrigeration, HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) design and installation capabilities in-house. Job Summary: Shambaugh & Son L.P. is seeking a designer for Fire Protection Systems. You will develop, review and evaluate fire sprinkler designs and drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors
  • Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required
  • Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production
  • Prepare submittals and correspond with other trades
  • Interface with clients and other construction professionals
  • Coordinate with project managers
  • Other duties assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred or equivalent experience. Examples include: Mechanical Engineering Technology or Design Engineering Technology
  • At least 2 years of design experience (could be from internship or classroom training)
  • Revit and BIM experience is a plus
  • Excellent communicator, self-motivated individual with great organizational skills
  • Candidates must successfully complete employment background check
