Responsible for performing many of the day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department. This includes but is not limited to the following: Assisting with general ledger activities, Performing month-end closing activities; Preparing month-end account reconciliation's; Assisting with all other daily activities of the Accounting Department and performing special projects as directed by the CFO, Assistant CFO and Market Controller

Advanced computer spreadsheet proficiency including graphing and complex formulas often linking multiple worksheets (very high level of usage), general software literacy, trending, and "what if" skills required.
* Assist with the preparation of work papers for internal and external audits.
* Reconcile and resolve clearing and balance sheet accounts monthly and in a timely and accurate manner.
* Assist in preparation of data for surveys, operating reports, inquiries made by third party auditors, etc.
* Monitor and record monthly data for construction in progress and capital purchases.
* Maintain policy and procedure manuals for fixed asset and cash reconciliation function.
* Prepare Standard monthly accrual (SMA), Contractuals for revenue
* Prepare/learn Medicare Exhibit concepts
* Senior should also have the knowledge to complete/review all staff accountant duties
Prepares general ledger entries in conjunction with monthly closing processes and reconciles general ledger accounts.
Develops analytical/departmental reports as required or requested. Assists with the development and administration of the organization's annual budget.
Serves as an interdepartmental liaison. Works with internal and external auditors to prepare for and facilitate audits.
Ensures departmental and organizational compliance with current accounting standards, hospital policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related specialty - Required

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must be knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Minimum Work Experience
Two years experience in accounting is required. LifePoint/Parallon/HCA/ experience preferred. Healthcare experience a plus.
