Job Overview

We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Aerojet Ordnance Tennessee team in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The Financial Analyst will perform professional accounting work including auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information to Company staff regarding accounting directives, procedures, and practices and reconciling general ledger accounts, conducting financial/analyses and summarizing financial planning data and will also provide assistance to internal and external auditors regarding accounting practices. The Financial Analyst will report directly to Manager of Business Operations for the Aerojet Ordnance Tennessee facility located in Jonesborough, TN.

Essential Functions

The Financial Analyst will perform accounting and fiscal analysis in the preparation, maintenance and verification of the Company's fiscal and budget records; analyze records and transactions in order to project results such as impact on financial statements; initiate and participate in special studies of automated and manual accounting systems to ensure economy, efficiency, and adequate internal controls; prepare reports that maintain the Company's cost accounting system; ensure costs are allocated according to established procedures; follow controls for fiscal accountability; monitor revenues and expenditures to determine whether reported levels meet anticipated levels; may perform financial and compliance audits in accordance with Internal Audit Department Charter and Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) standards; will perform economic research and studies of rates of return, depreciation and investments; analyze profit-and-loss income statements and prepare reports on findings to make recommendations to management; generate forecasts and analyze trends in sales, finance, and other areas of the business and will perform related duties as assigned.

80% - Recognizing issues and recommending solutions to problems involving moderate complexity, conceiving and planning projects involving the development of new approaches and methods to attain objectives, provides input to department objectives and long-range goals, keep current within area of specialty in support of project assignments, develops and prepares detailed financial, cost, budget and accounting statistical reports, statements and schedules, prepares analytical summaries and reports for management review, responsible for the interpretation and calculation of moderately complex formulas requiring discretion and independent judgement in the administration of financial analysis and studies, reviews, analyzes and gives guidance to maintain effective controls of the Company's accounts for all functions including inventory, budget, expense, tax, property, insurance, as well as direct and indirect charges on work in process, overhead, receivables, payables, and special funds, may review data versus prior plans and prepare explanations of variances for management and summarizes data in the preparation of summary financial analyses.

20% - May assist the Company's management team in audits, negotiations, and the handling of special inquiries from government/clients regarding pertinent accounting procedures and techniques, as well as conducting financial projects.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 3 years of directly related experience including transactional accounting and auditing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Sr. Financial Analyst will possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAS), and Institute of Internal Auditors (IAA) standards, including internal control systems, cost accounting, and general ledger; Governmental cost accounting methods, procedures, and budgeting requirements including: Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS); Uniform accounting system and financial organization procedures; principles of business management, including office methods and procedures; Federal, state and local laws, and regulations, including Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Code; Automated accounting systems and computer applications; budget development and control; and principles of public finance and business law. Understanding and proficiency of personal computer spreadsheets and automated accounting systems, and the demonstrated ability to utilize software programs to prepare reports and presentations.

The Sr. Financial Analyst will possess the ability to evaluate, prioritize and categorize data in various forms and formats, apply general accounting principles/standards and auditing standards and procedures, perform mathematical calculations, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including preparing comprehensive, clear and concise accounting reports and financial statements, analyze data and draw sound conclusions, analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action, make sound decisions and recommendations in regard to the Company's budget, accounting and business management activities, establish and maintain effective working relationships, use a variety of computer systems to prepare reports and documents, and must operate in a team environment.

Requires U.S. Citizenship or status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
