Job Description

RK&K is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Alternative Delivery team in Tennessee. As a Project Manager in our Alternative Delivery division you will have the opportunity to develop and lead a team of professional engineers in support of our current and future clients. You will play a critical role on our team by developing and maintaining relationships with clients and connecting those clients with innovative and creative solutions to their Transportation-oriented needs.

Essential Function

  • Serve as a hands-on, project based, Design Manager for Tennessee Transportation Alternative Delivery projects providing project leadership, technical expertise, budget management, and design production oversight
  • Provide innovative solutions to alternative delivery projects
  • Maintain strong relationships with potential teaming partners (TDOT, contractors, engineers, subconsultants)
  • Actively participate in the development and professional growth of RK&K's Tennessee based staff, particularly with respect to alternative delivery
  • Articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually, including strong technical and proposal writing skills

Required Skills and Experience

  • Fifteen (15) + years of experience in engineering services with progressive responsibilities including engineering, design, project management and client delivery
  • Experience leading alternative delivery projects including but not limited to: design build, progressive design build, construction manager general contractor (CMGC), public private partnerships (P3) etc.
  • Established ability to coordinate with Contractor and Owner during Design-Build pursuits and project execution
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in Tennessee
  • Effective and Efficient communication to provide solutions on complex transportation projects
  • Ability to think creatively, resolve abstract problems, motivate others, work collaboratively, and be self-directed

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Project Management (PMP) or Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
  • Serve as a Project Manager on projects valued at $100 Million or greater in construction
  • Experience as Design Manager, Deputy Design Manager, or high functioning discipline lead on contractor lead teams for Tennessee Design Build Transportation projects
  • Preparation of Design-Build Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposal and Price Proposals
  • Management of Alternative Delivery Teams, including in-house and subconsultant staff, to exceed project goals for design, schedule and budget performance
  • Capable of supporting the growth of traditional design services within the Tennessee market with a focus on TDOT
