Job Description

RK&K is currently hiring an experienced leader in Structural Engineering to join our team in Tennessee. As a senior member of our Structures team at RK&K you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic structural pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation. You should have state and municipal experience, be highly proactive, able to develop creative technical solutions, have a strong understanding of structural operations and hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations.

Essential Functions

  • Lead our structural design and engineering group throughout Tennessee with development and delivery of structural assignments
  • Participate in Business Development and Marketing to secure future clients and workload
  • Provide Senior level structural expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the structural aspects of the project
  • Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on a variety of structure related projects
  • Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans
  • Direct project staff and sub-consultants
  • Serve as liaison between client and firm
  • Execute QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work
  • Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field
  • Hire, train, and mentor entry level and junior level structural engineers

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of bridge design experience
  • Excellent communication skills including proposal development
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Tennessee or ability to obtain within 6 months

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Masters degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and local municipalities
