The Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations / Site Leader will set the strategic direction of the site Operations and lead/develop the team in providing the effective supply of quality products at an appropriate cost and service performance that meets all relevant quality, regulatory, health, safety and environmental standards. As a member of the Franchise Operations Leadership Team, the role supports the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Orthopaedic Operations in forming and implementing the overall global strategy for Operations. The Factory Lead will have responsibility and leadership for the factory campus, partnership with the Knees Focused Factory Leader in Memphis and the Materials Snr Director in Memphis.

What will you be doing?

This role is passionate about the leadership of the multifunctional site team through a period of change successful delivery of the manufacturing strategy and the development which the Hips + Trauma Memphis factory plays in the future. Employee motivation and happiness play a key part in this role, and the maintenance of a healthy employment relations climate is seen as critical. The role requires a balance of leading the site through change and delivering operational excellence.A key result is to lead through major change developing lean capability and mindset setting the Memphis site up for the future. Crafting a high performing Leadership team with strong capability and leadership skills is key.

  • Facilitate the implementation of the manufacturing strategy within Memphis facility which includes three manufacturing plants.
  • Development of and personally championing a culture of continuous improvement in line with the Company Culture Pillar of Care, Collaboration and Courage.
  • Development and execution of plans which ensure Memphis is 'fit for the future' and which support the medium-term global Supply strategy.
  • Ensuring appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Systems are in place and implemented within the business.
  • Ensure that the quality policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels of the organisation
  • Ensuring that the site facilities are handled within budget and maintained to the appropriate standard.
  • Ensuring appropriate manufacturing capacity is able to cost effectively meet current and projected demand.
  • Ensuring that customer service levels are maintained to agreed levels.
  • Development and maintenance of a proficient and effective organisation with the capability and resources to meet Operations business needs on the Memphis site.
  • Ensuring company HR policies are implemented within Operations and that staff are regularly reviewed and appropriately rewarded.
  • Ensuring challenging budgets are set, agreed and supervised within Operations, in line with Orthopaedics Management Business needs.
  • Ensuring effective monitors and audit processes are in place and to be personally involved in the review processes.
  • To proactively lead and develop the performance of team members through performance management, calibration, resource review and planning, capability, disciplinary, training and development to meet the needs of the business.
  • Liaise with Regulatory bodies and local authorities to ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements are addressed
  • Develop the skills base of the site to enable further opportunities for optimisation

What will you need to be successful?

  • Educated to degree level in a technical discipline preferred with at least 10 years experience at senior management level within a respected multinational company.
  • Technical operations experience within a regulated environment with fast paced standards.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain management, quality systems andHSE regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, team player and customer focused
  • Broad based business understanding and can work with autonomy.
