Role Summary

The Tower Crane Technician will perform routine and non-routine support of day-to-day tower crane operations to provide a safe and positive work environment. This position will be responsible for proper maintenance, repair, and inspections of tower crane and personnel hoists, professional customer interaction and maintaining accurate documentation. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

TOWER CRANE TECHNICIAN FAMILY - CORE

  • Performs maintenance, troubleshoots and diagnoses issues, and conducts repairs on tower cranes and personnel hoists as directed.
  • Conducts monthly equipment inspections and documents findings per the company process.
  • Identifies and orders replacement parts on hoisting equipment utilizing the internal process.
  • Tests all equipment prior to rental to ensure quality/safety and equipment readiness.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and secure workspace and service trucks, per company guidelines.
  • Documents accurately (on paper or digitally) completed maintenance, repairs and inspections on hoisting equipment per company processes.
  • Communicates in a timely manner with internal and external business partners by answering phone calls and responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
  • Conducts field repairs on hoisting equipment on sites as needed.
  • Arranges the receiving, shipping and storing of hoisting parts as needed.
  • Participates in periodic cycle counts of hoisting parts and equipment to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Operates/drives in a safe and professional manner in line with company's safety policy.
  • Cleans and maintains warehouse facilities as directed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner

  • Ability to follow-up on inquiries in a timely manner

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to operate a forklift or other distribution equipment
  • Ability to identify common construction materials and equipment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Proficiency in diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (Required)
  • Vocational/Technical degree with electrical emphasis (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience
  • 2+ years tower crane or personnel hoist maintenance and repair experience (Preferred)
Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
  • May require periods of overnight travel
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Must be comfortable working at projected heights
  • Frequent Activity: Standing, Walking, Lifting, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Sitting
  • Occasional activity: Viewing Computer Screen
