Job Description

* Develops specifications and performance requirements for automation/control systems.
* Calculates cost analysis for integrating custom features and maintaining quote templates for future customer needs.
* Uses program knowledge and experience to adapt systems for specific job applications.
* Be responsible for setting up equipment and developing demonstration standards for product/capability demonstrations both in-house and at client sites.
* When required, travels to customer sites to conduct needs analysis and document process flow, equipment, sensors, and safety devices.
* High level of assistance in defining customer's interfacing needs and estimating associated costs. Evaluates customer's systems to ensure they have the capability to complete desired functions.
* Analyzes alternative techniques and methods. Recommends changes to equipment or procedures as needed.
* Works to become a process expert for the markets we serve by understanding the industry nuances, jargon, and key drivers of quality, production, and cost.
* Assists development team with product design, development testing, and implementation.
* Shares technical information and training with other departments.
* Responsible for assisting the sales department with advising and training customers on various product lines and applications. Training may involve on-site visits, virtual training seminars, or in-house training sessions.
* Assist in developing training protocols and tailoring to meet customer's needs.
* Assists in creating specifications, price sheets, estimating worksheets, standard quotations and training programs for current control platforms.
* Responsible for monitoring customer trends and competitor activities and maintaining technical fluency to know customers' needs and tendencies.
* Provides feedback to engineering teams to assist with product development, refinement and troubleshooting.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in a related area; 2-5 years of experience in process automation and controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic to advanced working knowledge and proficiency with M.S. Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software. Working knowledge and proficiency with email systems such as Outlook.
TECHNICAL -
Be a master of identifying process flow, electrical schematics, P&ID and the application of PC/PLC automation control systems that also include significant data management.
