Covia is looking for a dynamic Second Shift Production Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Camden, TN. location. The Production Supervisor will oversee and direct front-line employee work performance to accomplish daily production and shipping requirements with the highest regard for safety and consistent with quality requirements.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide front-line supervision for all production employees on the shift. Assist in supervision of maintenance employees.
  • Maintain close coordination of work with other Supervisors and the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain open communications with Plant Secretary, Office Administrator, railroad personnel, trucking personnel and regular local customers.
  • Supervise all process activities including scheduling of manpower.
  • Schedule and supervise mining, pumping, washing, flotation, drying, screening and loading operations as required.
  • Initiate maintenance requests or fault reports into IFS and follow up on completion.
  • Recommend equipment and process modifications to improve efficiencies.
  • Recommend changes in standards, work methods and procedures to improve performance, productivity and profitability.
  • Review quality reports and ensure quality of products produced / shipped.
  • Develop and maintain acceptable labor and employee relations. Implement the labor contract consistent with plant management's direction.
  • Direct and ensure appropriate training and cross training of personnel.
  • Monitor manpower requirements and recommend manning changes.
  • Direct and ensure safety and good housekeeping. Maintain active involvement in safety program.
  • Ensure work standards, policies, plans and procedures are maintained.
  • Maintain open communications with subordinates, peers and superiors.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-5 years of related operations supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and 5S is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical background is a plus.
  • Familiarity with computer systems specifically Microsoft Office Programs.
