Your Opportunity as Lead Specialist, Quality Assurance

Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to manage the Quality systems and develop strategic plans while integrating quality concepts and processes into other plant functions. Openly interact with other quality site leaders, operations, and technical organizations as part of the day-to-day work. This opportunity is for a high energy, self-starting, and capable leader with a manufacturing/quality background.

Location: Memphis, TN

Work Arrangements: Onsite

In this role you will:

  • Understand and support Safety Program policies and performs work related activities in a safe manner. Recognizes unsafe work conditions and suggests new safety standards, as appropriate.
  • Responsible for developing and leading QA systems and initiatives for the manufacturing of consumer foods, which comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complies and understands FDA and company policies for food safety and quality.
  • Works to ensure quality products and services are delivered defect free to every customer and consumer.
  • Leads potential foreign material investigations and drives foreign material outages to root cause. Responsible for identifying corrective and preventive actions from root causes.
  • Trains all full-time and temporary employees in the areas of Food Safety, GMP's, BRC, Allergens, Pest Control, Quality Risk Assessment, Proficy, Food Defense and Sanitation.
  • Builds organization capability through Quality Pillar methodologies and ensuring QA system health through QA Key Element and SPC work.
  • Leads development of the Quality Pillar integration into the whole plant. Leads development of the plant quality loss elimination process and overall continuous improvement programs in the organization, as well as is an active member of the site Quality Pillar Team.
  • Builds the business by increasing through-put, driving out losses/inefficiencies, increasing organizational capability and mastery while achieving long term plant objectives and goals.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree of science - Engineering, Food Science and Technology, or Food Microbiology is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Previous experience using problem solving tools, define a problem statement, identify root cause, and develop/implement systemic corrective actions.
  • Root cause analysis and statistical driven analysis.
  • Willing to work flexible hours (weekends, off shifts), as needed.
  • Strong Leadership Skills. Must be able to direct the efforts of a team, including engaging team members and enabling the team's success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Understanding and previous experience of Prodika, SharePoint, and other data base management systems is desired.
  • An understanding of Food Safety, Food Defense, PCQI Principles, Quality management systems, BRC/SQF auditing, or other 3rd party auditing schemes.
  • Proven people/organizational development skills
  • Has the ability to work effectively given basic coaching and guidance. Has the ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Willing to collaborate effectively with individuals and teams across the organization.
  • Proven ability to define a problem statement, identify root cause, and develop/implement systemic corrective actions.
  • Has ability to prioritize work based on impact to the business and communicate priorities effectively to leadership and to peers.
  • Has the high potential and willingness to grow into plant leadership roles in the future.
