We are seeking a qualified, safety-minded, highly motivated individual to work as an intern who will gain an overall understanding of the safety systems within Vulcan Materials so that the intern can eventually be considered for a full-time position within Vulcan Materials. As a summer intern, Vulcan will work with the employee to identify the employee's needs and interests. The employee will be exposed to the business and be provided with experiences that will help him/her learn the business and the industry from a hands-on perspective. A successful intern will be flexible, have the desire to learn multiple facets of the business, and be willing to work with different functional areas.

The selected candidate will be involved with and learn about various aspects of the Safety & Health Process including, but not limited to:

* Assist with system audits

* Develop Safety Alerts

* Catalog Work-plans

* Support the safety goals and processes of the company

* Development and implementation of OSHA training and regulations

* Understanding and communicating fundamentals of incident elimination and risk assessment

* Other miscellaneous projects

* Spend field time at one or more job sites to gain experience in construction operations as related to safety & health.

In addition to learning these aspects, the selected candidate may be required to perform general laboring duties. This position will be based in Nashville but travel may be required throughout the state depending on the location of our jobs.

Education:

Ideal candidates will be currently enrolled in a college degree program in a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* General knowledge of business and organization practices

* Basic computer skills

* Self-starter; Ability to work well without direct supervision.

* Must possess strong written and oral communication skills

* Able to relate to all levels of people

* Able to perform multiple tasks in an environment that has and will continue to have increased pressure

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
