ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Continuous Improvement Specialist and is located in Selmer, Tennessee. As a Production Development Technician, you will perform a vital role in the production, installation, maintenance and repair of equipment used in various manufacturing and automation processes, ensuring the smooth operation and efficiency of equipment and systems. Conducts specialized work assignments as part of the production processes.

Your responsibilities

  • Core Responsibilities: Responsible for the startup, operation and shutdown of one or more of the chemical processes within the plant; this could include one or all of the following processes: E-Coat, Powder Coat, Powder Paint, Aluminum and Copper Plating Lines
  • Responsible for additions, remaking, dumping and analyses of chemical tanks within the processes
  • Responsible for the quality of product coming off the process lines and the input of quality data into TrueChem
  • Responsible for proper handling, labeling and storing of hazardous and nonhazardous chemicals and hazardous waste generated from process areas
  • Responsible for the operation of filtration equipment within the process areas; this includes but is not limited to startup, shutdown, and cleaning of Mefiag vertical plate filters, ultra filtration systems, filter presses and other bag or cartridge filtering systems
  • Responsible for the proper operation and daily maintenance of equipment in use and addresses any malfunction(s) to maintain production schedules
  • Responsible for housekeeping in process areas and maintaining a safe working attitude and environment while performing daily activities
  • Let supervisor know of any issues on the process lines in a timely manner
  • Must work from written and verbal instructions and use selective judgment in the process sequence to ensure successful operation of the chemical processes
  • Must complete required chemical safety training within one month of accepting the position
  • Must receive forklift training to become certified if training has not already been completed

Your background

  • High school diploma/ GED and minimum 2 plus years of manufacturing experience
  • Specialist Technical & Engineering Skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
