FedEx Freight, Inc. in Memphis, TN has the following opening for an Ops Research Scientist II

Job Description: Develop concepts into business plans utilizing appropriate research techniques, methodologies, and experience and present them to senior management with recommendation for implementation. Develop and implement data collection systems from primary and secondary sources and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality. Identify, analyze, interpret and visualize trends or patterns in complex data sets. Evaluate alternative systems or transportation networks employing financial, computer, geographic or operational models as appropriate. Research cutting edge technologies in support of the "best practices" in any transportation or network related questions. Provide project support or individually design and develop models for testing, validation and evaluation of strategic proposals. Utilize multi-media presentations and formal reports for presenting analyses to senior management. Coordinate personnel involved in project administratively and technically. Comply with all applicable laws/regulations as well as company policies/procedures. Perform other duties as required. Identify business opportunities or expand ideas obtained from management in order to conceptualize and define and model operational problems to assess feasibility and impact. Identify performance improvement opportunities via data analysis and develop decision support tools to ensure most cost conscience, efficient use of company resources that supports service objectives.

Job Requirements: Requires a Master's in Business, Transportation, Engineering, or related. 3 years of engineering experience in a supply chain/logistics position is required. Must have some experience in each of the following skills: developing SAS procedures, macros and applications for data cleaning, data migration and ad hoc reporting and documentation; SAS modeling for facility layouts, staffing and equipment pooling; ArcGIS; Microsoft MapPoint; and Transportation Management Systems & Data analysis. Experience can be gained prior to or during Master's
education.
