Job Description

Job Summary

The Dock Manager manages the operation of the dock site ensuring all work is carried out in an efficient manner, maintains existing customers by ensuring customers are serviced as scheduled, and solicits new business including restaurants, supermarkets, schools, hospitals, etc.

  • Formulates, monitors, and controls routes to minimize route costs and efficiency by utilizing driver routing system.
  • Manages daily upkeep and preventative maintenance at dock site & fleet in a cost effective manner.
  • Monitors quality of products received from customers striving to eliminate poly and trash problems.
  • Responsible for training and development of all drivers; may run route in driver absence.
  • Conducts accident investigation and reporting to upper management.
  • Maintain current accounts through personal and telephone contact ensuring quality service to each customer while communicating with Customer Service Representative.
  • Identify and attract potential new customers; consistently develops new raw materials business.
  • Understands raw materials values; evaluates profitability of new and existing customers.
  • Submits weekly activity report describing customer contacts, contracts, orders, and competition.
  • Responsible for maintenance of dock facility and grounds.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, college degree in related area preferred.
  • Demonstrated work experience in fleet or transportation field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Management, preferably in an industrial or plant-type setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Route sales and/or routing system experience preferred.
  • Work well with others in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to manage and supervise drivers
  • Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.
  • Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record.
  • Good math and computer skills.

Job Summary

Position will report directly to the Claims Manager and will assist in the administration of the company's claims program to include the reporting, processing of claims as well as coordination with TPA on open active claims as needed. Will also assist with general duties within the Risk Management department as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Claim administration duties, including but not limited to daily claim reporting, and communicating with injured workers, site management, EHS, and claim examiners/adjusters providing support and overall guidance on claim file as needed.
  • Organizing compilation and production of relevant documents for litigated cases in conjunction with legal, safety and operational department members, external adjusters, and counsel
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing "best practice" risk and claim management techniques and programs in partnership with TPA
  • Supporting the Risk Management & Insurance (RM&I) Department's relationships with various internal customers and external business partners, including insurers, claims administrators, insurance brokers, outside counsel, risk management consultants, other vendors, and customers
  • Acting as a resource to Darling Ingredients locations and other assigned duties in connection with the administration of the company's claims programs
  • Assist in completion of data requests for monthly/quarterly reports, allocations, renewals, accruals, actuarial reviews, audits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 2-5 years claim experience in a claims or risk management role handling a mix of medical and indemnity Workers' Compensation claims.
  • HS diploma required, college degree preferred
  • Knowledge of risk management / insurance principles, claim handling guidelines, legal / medical terminology
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • High level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality of information when required
  • Self-motivated, determined, and able to work under own initiative
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred
  • Licensed Adjuster
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience in adjusting workers compensation claims
  • Must be able to work on-site. This is not a remote work eligible position.
