The Logistics Director provides executive leadership for all aspects of our Logistics network in AMERICAS. This includes ownership of end-to-end transportation and warehousing processes and Distribution Resource Planning (DRP). This position will play a critical role in serving our customers On-Time-In-Full and give visibility of shipments/deliveries to business partners, key collaborators and customers. This position will drive collaboration between key functions including Marketing, Commercial, Country Cluster management, Finance, Customer Solutions as well as Supply Chain partners to ultimately achieve elite material, information- and financial flows.

What will you be doing?

The Logistics Director will lead a team with 3 Managers and 20 employees direct and is a governance role for Global Distribution centres located in US. The role is responsible for driving overall employee engagement and development as well as be a key contributor to our ground-breaking change in our Logistics network. The role reports to the Vice President Supply Chain Americas and will be part of the Americas leadership team. This role will be vital to secure correct and accurate product flow to our regions, countries and districts (in US) as well as responsible for all communications and reports to allow proactive decision making. This role also will be accountable of controlling and optimizing W&D cost related to transportations and warehousing labor according to corporate ambitions and P&L. This role will perform according corporate guidelines and policies ensuring quality and internal audit requirements to be covered (MAPS) and compliant in regards of working capital and spend management under its scope.

Responsibilities:

(60%) Leadership

- Design, implement, lead and govern end-to-end transportation services and visibility (until ePOD) for inbound to the region from global sources, outbound from central warehouses within the region to local distribution center and last mile distribution to customers.

- Lead the outsourced Global Distribution Center (GDC) and improve processes and efficiencies using OPEX methodology.

- Achieve targeted OTIF service levels for customers and enable ATP (Availability To Promise).

- Handle Logistics Service Providers in warehousing and transportation and ensure clearly defined and targeted performance levels are achieved.

- Collaborate closely with Supply & Network Planning and Country Cluster SCM/Logistics for inbound/outbound of the GDC in AMERICAS and for DRP.

- Collaborate closely with Procurement for the category Logistics.

- Collaborate closely with Customer Solutions in order to improve customer experience and establish SMART Center and Net Promoter Score (NPS).

- Run inventory & returns in the GDC in collaboration with Supply & Network Planning and Finance.

- Build a resilient transportation network in order to mitigate risks.

- Lead compliance, SOX, ISO, HSE and inventory & freight auditing.

(20%) Monitoring/Maintenance:

- Build and improve relevant Logistics performance metrics.

- Ensure single set of data and accurate master data.

- Handle incidents and perform CAPA's.

- Supervise and reduce customer backorders and logistics backlog.

- Identify constraints, risks & opportunities in the Logistics network.

- Deliver customer order/delivery information to internal partners and customers.

- Supervise and achieve sustainability goals.

- Run own p+l, freight spend and drive down Cost-To-Serve

(20%) Complexity & Team management:

- Requires initiative to independently interpret business direction, understand capital constraints and help create trust and alignment between the business and functions around priorities of initiatives.

- Implement Business Process Management for transport flows and warehouse processes.

Education:BA or Master degree in Logistics, Business or related field preferred

What will you need to be successful?

- 10+ Years of Logistics experience in AMERICAS, working both domestically and internationally, with shown warehouse management, freight forwarding and parcel/express experience. Preferably in or for the Life Science/Healthcare industry.

- Good facilitation skills with the ability to operate effectively at all levels within the organization and foster collaboration and communication across diverse global, regional and cross-functional teams.

- Energetic and dynamic with a strong work ethic, capable of thriving in a fast paced and complex environment.

- Able to solve complex problems, applying expertise in business intelligence and data solutions to drive best practices/operational improvements and innovative solutions.

- Uses market benchmarks and own direct experience to drive results and profitability.

- Expert on Distribution Resource Planning, Trade Lane Management, Freight Forwarding and Warehouse Management.

- Authority on SAP, TMS, WMS and Visibility solutions.

- Strong interpersonal skills essential to effectively interact and earn credibility with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting logistics management throughout the network.

- Ability to lead a team of 3-4 direct reports / 15-25 indirect reports
