The at (SJCRH) has established an expansive and multicomponent new initiative for research, development, and validation of novel image quantification and artificial intelligence solutions. The ideal candidates will establish 1) Establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub and 2) Lead the Image Quantification and Artificial Intelligence (IQAI) Core Lab.

The AI Hub is recruiting one faculty level academic researcher. The AI Hub is intended to be an independent lab focused on research, development, and validation of AI solutions in imaging that support the institutional mission, to find cures for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. Candidates with experience and a track record of research, development, and validation of AI solutions in imaging will be considered. The goal is to develop bench to bedside AI solutions for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. Examples of solutions may include generative AI to develop patient and family-friendly radiology reports, foundational AI models, tumor segmentation with lifelong learning, development of an AI orchestrator to support multiple AI solutions, etc. All research faculty positions require investigators to pursue independent funding for promotion. Substantial resources are available to build a successful program.

This position will be research focused, in collaboration with clinicians, basic scientists, and other researchers. Academic-Industrial Partnerships and innovative AI solutions are encouraged. There is extensive experience and support for dissemination and commercialization of technologies.

The IQAI Core Lab is a new initiative that builds upon the infrastructure of an existing institutional core lab, with the additional of new software engineers, data scientists, and research analysts. The IQAI Core Lab will be an institutional core lab that supports research investigators within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and from other departments. The image quantification arm of the IQAI Core Lab will support quantitative radiomics from research faculty. A separate Tumor Imaging and 3D Analysis Lab (TIDAL) will support clinical trial interpretations and 3D analysis for research and clinical needs. The AI arm of the IQAI Core Lab will provide image software engineering, data science, and generative AI to support research faculty. Substantial resources are available to build a successful IQAI Core Lab, including the hiring of additional personnel over the next two years.

Candidates should have the following: a PhD or equivalent degree and proven productivity as a principal or co-investigator in basic and translational AI research.

Faculty appointment will be commensurate with demonstrated experience, publication and grant productivity, participation in academic activities nationally and internationally, and leadership skills.

The essential duties of this position include:

1. Build an AI Hub for research, development, and validation of AI in imaging solutions that support the institutional mission.

2. Obtain grant funding and publish research findings;

3. Provide leadership and vision for the IQAI Core Lab to serve as leading center of excellence for Image Quantification and AI for pediatrics;
4. Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with other researchers and industry partners;
5. Facilitate bench-to-bedside AI solutions
