Responsibilities

Mountain Youth Academy (a UHS company) is seeking Residential Counselor(s) for all shifts to join our growing team! Come make a difference in the life of a child and love what you do!!

Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 90-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for our Residential Counselor position(s). We have Per Diem shifts available for those candidates who might be looking to supplement their income.

Salaries start at 15.00 per hour (PRN rate) for a High School Diploma and advance with experience and additional levels of education. Shift differentials are also part of the compensation package.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Functions as a responsible member of the treatment planning team who observes and reports physical and behavioral symptoms under the direction of the Shift Supervisor/ Residential Manager. The Residential Counselor is an active participant in the implementation of physical care and therapeutic activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include, but are not limited to, the following)

  • Serves as a role model to staff and students in dress and demeanor.
  • Exercises appropriate interventions under the direction of the Residential Manager.
  • Performs proper HWC techniques, demonstrating knowledge of student and staff safety. Completes debriefings as indicated.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree preferred in human services or a related field and one year of residential care experience.The facility accepts a candidate with the minimum requirements by the State of Tennessee as a high school diploma for employment.

SERVICE STANDARDS/PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT FUNCTION:

* Promotes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facility by becoming familiar with and complying with facility and departmental policies and procedures.

* Maintains licenses and certifications required for the position.

* Attends mandatory training annually to maintain competency.
