PURPOSE: The Associate Manager provides project management, planning, budgetary and technical oversight, and coordination necessary to operate the Workforce Development (WD) Participation Programs for DOE and other federal agencies, as well as recruitment strategies for workforce development programs for university faculty, postgraduate, postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate participants. This involves working with multiple research, management, and financial personnel at sponsoring federal agencies, and coordinating activities for 500+ participants and scientist/mentors annually. In addition, the position involves coordinating with sponsors, advisors, applicants, participants, and professional societies in disciplines relevant to research. The position requires working with sponsors, the group manager, and/or other ORAU/ORISE managers in planning, developing, implementing, and managing new programs/activities for undergraduate and graduate students, postgraduates, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty. Manages a budget of $8-15M annually and supervises 5-7 staff members.
Bachelor's degree in business, scientific, technical, education or related field and 6-10 years of job related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
