We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Human Resources Supervisor within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Deer Park, TX.

This role oversees and administers all aspects of Human Resources at the Houston Deer Park VCM Operation plant. Responsibilities include planning, staffing, salary administration, employee relations, communications, benefits administration, employee training and development, personnel administration, community/public relations, performance management, and medical matters.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.
  • Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
  • Generate and/or maintain records regarding personnel changes including hiring, pay changes, promotions, transfers, retirements and terminations through PeopleSoft and personnel files.
  • Foster open communication with the workforce.
  • Provide HR guidance and resources to assist in reaching business objectives.
  • Develop and conduct training and development programs to enhance employee skills, performance, and the work environment.
  • Track discipline records, headcount, and other metrics.
  • Assist the Plant Manager with policies and procedures.
  • Address payroll and workers' compensation issues.
  • Manage attendance tracking for site employees.
  • Assist in employment process including, scheduling, testing and on-boarding.
  • Interview and participate in the recruitment and selection of exempt, nonexempt, and hourly employees; determines applicant qualifications and makes the appropriate recommendations concerning offers of employment; andaudits performance of newly hired employees.
  • Conducts exit interviews with employees to determine the underlying reasons for termination of employment; also determines employee attitudes toward the company, supervisor, etc.
  • Assist employees and/or family members as required during emergency situations (SSP Team Member).
  • Initiates and assists in the development and presentations of programs which address important goals of the plant such as supervisory and employee development and promoting positive employee relations.
  • Assist in implementation of plant EEO/Diversity philosophy.
  • Maintain and track changes for Houston DP-VCM headcount.
  • Manage administrative tasks and community relations events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Requires 4+ years of professional Human Resources experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Working knowledge of employment regulations and practices, such as, National Labor Relations Act, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA,Title VII, worker's compensation and unemployment.
  • Demonstrated successful track record in positive employee relations.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to relocate in the future for career growth strongly preferred
  • Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • HR experience in an industrial manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Experience in supervision preferred.
